Since those early days, BitGive has added a layer of transparency through its GiveTrack tool, allowing donors to follow the money and see where and how it is allocated. Founded in 2013, BitGive is the first Bitcoin 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, giving it tax exemption status at the federal level in the United States. BitGive is the first Bitcoin charity organization to receive tax-exempt status, thus allowing for the use of Bitcoin to promote charitable causes. This is anticipated to provide new venues for virtual currency donations in the charitable community. In fall 2017, BitGive introduced the beta version of GiveTrack, a blockchain-based, open-source donation tracker, and last December, GiveTrack 1.0 went live.
